CONTAINER MAN

53'L x 9'W x 11'H
A collaboration with Hungarian artist Viktor Lois
An electronic orchestra made with industrial materials and machinery parts
(Work-in-progress, preliminary structure sculpted in Taiwan in 2002)

The "Container Man" is a 53'L x 9'W x 11'H sound sculpture collaborated with Hungarian artist Viktor Lois. To reflect our modern techno-mechanical, mobile, multi-faceted, experiential, multi-sensory environment, the sculpture uses a shipping container as its skeleton & skin, and industrial machinery parts as its organs. Each organ is a musical instrument. As a whole, it is an electronic orchestra. Its space, with a 40' opening in the center, can be "entered" and allow audience interaction. It also functions as a mobile stage for concerts/performances. In spring of 2004, Yin will bring seven core artists to Boston to develop a piece of composition/structure for the tour. Together they will explore the pulse/rhythm of modern humanity's culture & society by bringing the Container Man on a tour across continental US and Europe. (Yin Peet)
